The FA24 engine in the VB-chassis WRX utilizes an electronically controlled factory diverter valve rather than the pneumatic bypass valves found on previous generations. While electronic control allows the ECU to trigger the valve faster, the original equipment (OE) unit relies on a molded plastic valve mechanism that is prone to boost leaks and long-term reliability issues. Furthermore, the factory valve only operates in binary open/shut positions, which can compromise throttle response during spirited driving.

The GFB DV+ (T9383) addresses these shortcomings by replacing the weak plastic components with a CNC-machined metal valve and an integrated low-profile solenoid. This design allows for progressive valve operation—opening and closing only as much as needed—to maintain boost pressure more effectively and sharpen throttle response. The low-profile housing ensures a clean fit in the tight engine bay of the 2022+ WRX.
