Flywheels
Your vehicle's flywheel is far more than a ring gear for the starter. It stores kinetic energy, smooths out engine pulses, and provides the friction surface your clutch disc clamps against. Choosing the right flywheel comes down to understanding a few key factors: material, weight, and dampening characteristics.
Our flywheel collection includes both single-mass and dual-mass designs, built from materials like nodular iron, chromoly steel, billet steel, and aluminum. Single-mass flywheels reduce rotating mass, allowing faster engine response and more precise shifting—ideal for track use or aggressive street builds. Dual-mass flywheels incorporate internal dampening to absorb vibration, preserving gearbox longevity and delivering OE-level comfort in daily drivers.
- Single-Mass Flywheels: Lighter, quicker revving, and often more affordable. Expect some gear rattle at idle, especially with lightweight units.
- Dual-Mass Flywheels: Heavier, smoother engagement, and quieter operation. Best suited for stock drivetrains and towing applications.
- Materials & Weight: From 8 lb aluminum race flywheels to 40+ lb OEM-replacement steel units. Match the flywheel material and mass to your torque output and driving style.
Before purchasing, check your specific vehicle's bolt pattern, crank flange, and clutch size. Many aftermarket flywheels are designed for a particular clutch disc diameter or require a specific pressure plate. If you're upgrading to a high-clamp load pressure plate, a stronger flywheel is a must.
