The 42mm 2-Row aluminum core not only increases the fluid capacity of the radiator, but also improves the cores ability to dissipate heat. CSF's Exclusive B-Tube Technology improves heat transfer by approximately 15% over regular oval welded tubes. In addition, the super-efficient multi-louvered fins maximize airflow through the core for the best possible performance. Efficiency is key in off-roading as speeds tend to be lower overall so you end up relying on the fans to move most of the air over the radiator. While the factory fans do a decent job pulling air through the radiator core, it is still less airflow than you'd typically see in city driving. A larger and more efficient core will keep your engine temps in check and keep your engine running strong. Also, a larger core also helps when your radiator is covered in dust, dirt, or mud. While a radiator isn't functioning at peak efficiency in there situations, the more overall cooling capacity you have the better. In Addition, the end tanks are made from high grade aluminum and TIG welded to the core for extra strength. In contrast, the OEM crimped onto plastic end tank design is much weaker and creates a weak point where failure is more likely. Because the CSF radiator is designed as a true plug-and-play drop-in fit application, installation requires absolutely no modifications, trimming, or cutting.

CSF oil coolers are much more robust, durable, and can withstand a higher peak burst rate than common brazed plate-type/stacked designs. This allows the cooler to be mounted in areas that might get high debris (front fascia, diff cooler, side vents, etc). When using a conventional oil cooler, the type of mounting locations are often not considered due to the risk of damage. The CSF oil cooler is designed to withstand a tremendous amount of vibration and debris. You can even stand on it!

CSF has decades of experience designing and manufacturing A/C Condensers and has leveraged that knowledge to design its first high performance Evaporator. Most factory A/C evaporators from the 80s and 90s are now outdated in both design and materials. They were originally designed for R12 refrigerant, which offered far superior performance compared to today's more environmentally friendly R134a. Even brand-new OEM evaporators are not efficient enough to provide a proper temperature differential with R134a. That's where CSF steps in.

The most important feature of the CSF by PWR RS6/RS7 Intercooler System is the Formula-1 grade intercooler core. CSF's strategic relationship with PWR has allowed the inclusion of this core, which is unlike any other available in the performance aftermarket. Featuring two rows of rolled cooling tubes with inner fins, these cores make for the most efficient intercoolers available. Because of this, they are able to eliminate heat soak and lower IATs much more efficiently than traditional Bar & Plate or Tube & Fin designs. This gives us maximum performance for extended periods of time under demanding driving conditions and for vehicles with increased power levels through modifications and tuning. As with our other products produced through our PWR partnership, our new RS6/RS7 Intercoolers feature 100% TIG-welded machined billet aluminum end tanks vs. the OEM crimped cast aluminum end tanks. This feature is not only aesthetically pleasing, but is also stronger for longevity and durability on high-performance vehicles. The CNC machined billet end tanks are ready to withstand increased boost pressures from higher performance tunes, as well as upgraded turbochargers.

CSF went through several different prototypes using cores of varying thicknesses. The 31mm core was found to be the best balance of performance and fitment. This sizing allows for use of an OE style clutch pull fan or an aftermarket electric push fan. With nearly double the number of cooling fins and tubes, the CSF Radiator will outperform the OEM unit by a significant margin. Designed to perform on the street or at the track, a performance radiator is a must-have for both high horsepower builds as well as race vehicles which need added cooling performance in motorsports environments. This radiator features a 2-Row core with CSF's exclusive B-Tube Technology: Unlike a regular oval shape "O" type radiator tube, CSF uses a specially engineered tube in the shape of a "B". These "B-tubes" are carefully formed and then brazed over the seam to seal. CSF is able to use thinner and lighter aluminum material (with better cooling efficiency) because this design is actually stronger than normal "O" shape tubes that are welded. The design (inlet in the middle of the tube that is seam brazed) increases the heat transfer surface area of the tubes by approximately 15% over regular tubes - producing the efficiency of two smaller tubes vs. one large tube within the same space criteria. With "B-tubes" you are able to get "dual liquid laminar flow". CSF also uses ultra efficient multi louvered fins that are carefully and precisely aligned to maximize airflow through each radiator core. The supplied hardware kit includes all of the brackets, bolts, washers, and CNC machined fittings for installation. This is an industry-exclusive feature to the CSF x VF Engineering design, and was extremely difficult to not only engineer, but to manufacture as well. An array of items come vacuum packaged with corresponding letters listed on an easy to use Bill-of-Materials List (BOM) along with exploded diagrams and a simple order of operation procedure list to follow for installation. While mounting an additional cooler behind the grill is the simple option, that just adds more heat to the full system and takes away from the cooling capacity of the radiator. On top of that, most owners who track their cars will have an upgraded/larger intercooler which further compounds the issue. That means the sides of the bumper are the obvious and optimal placement. The original OE oil cooler from BMW is an all metal design which would make you think it would be fairly robust. However, there are several weak spots in the design that make it far less durable than it could be. The CSF design resolves these issues with more robust materials and reinforcing weak points. At first glance, the original BMW OE oil cooler appears solid due to its all-metal construction. However, design weaknesses make it far less durable than expected. CSF tackled these flaws by using stronger materials and reinforced engineering to create a superior replacement:

The OEM charge-air-cooler manifold for the B58 engine is adequate in cars with little or no modifications. However, it starts to really its weaknesses in cars that have bolt-on modifications, turbo upgrades, increased fueling (such as port injection), and performance tuning. In addition, the OEM intercooler system has been known to suffer from heat soak in demanding racing conditions such as time attack, endurance racing, drag racing, and drifting, as well as spirited driving on the street. This can cause the car to pull timing out of the engine due to high intake air temperatures (IATs). This can send the car into "limp mode" once temperatures reach a certain threshold. In high boost applications the OEM manifold is also prone to failing at the crimp on gasket joining of the core and tanks.

Testing was performed at World Motorsports in Torrance, CA with the help of Moto IQ . The OEM intercooler was run first to establish a baseline. You can see the OEM intercooler reaches heat soak relatively quickly (about 3 pulls). Performance was fairly impressive for an OEM intercooler, able to drop the charge air temperatures approximately 150ºF. The CSF x Jackson Racing Intercooler just blew the factory system out of the water though. Charge air temperatures were reduced by more than 240ºF. That's 90ºF more than the OEM intercooler. This resulted in much lower Intake Air Temperatures (IATs) and that were just a few degrees over ambient. On top of that, heat soak took twice as long to set in. Even when heat soaked, the charge air temperatures remained around 60ºF cooler than that of the factory intercooler.

The CSF Race-Spec design reinforces the weak points, especially around the feed and return lines. CSF's solid line connection block can handle any abuse thrown at it while the reinforced and braced return tube is rock solid. CSF also upgraded the more fragile Tub/Fin core to a robust and durable Bar/Plate design. The core is 40% larger than the factory unit with 2 additional rows of oil cooling and much thicker core (63mm vs OE 45mm). This offers superior cooling capacity and volume for the oil system. TIG welded end tanks round out the slew of upgrades creating a much stronger connection than the factory brazed construction.

One of the goals of the CSF 911/930 Engine Oil Cooler was to have a single unit that could fit both older (65-71) and newer models (72-89). The solution may seem simple, but engineering the two upgraded stainless steel fittings so there was no oil flow restriction took some extra design work. CSF took some inspiration from the CSF 911/930 Turbo Fender Oil Cooler (CSF #8168) using a similarly designed "Widemouth Fitting". The threaded M30 "Widemouth Fitting" for the 65-71 models maintains the optimized inner diameter (ID) of the oil pipe to maximize flow through the oil system. The "Widemouth Fitting" offers 50% greater flow capacity over the OEM connection. The machined in-house Stainless Steel fittings offer increased strength and durability over the OEM Aluminum slip-on tube (72-89 models) and threaded M30 fitting (65-71 models). Both OEM connections are common sources of leaks. CSF also includes two high quality copper crush washers to offer the best possible seal and prevent any leaks.
