This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide the high-performance sealing required for modern, high-output engines. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket resists the shearing forces created by different thermal expansion rates between aluminum heads and blocks. The outer layers are finished with a Viton rubber coating (a fluoroelastomer base) that is heat-resistant up to 250°C (482°F), ensuring a reliable seal even in harsh combustion environments.
Cometic MLS gaskets require no additional sealants and are designed to provide a more uniform load distribution across the sealing surface. This creates less clamp load requirement, which helps to minimize bore distortion during assembly.
