The Exedy ZF501A Lightweight Flywheel is engineered to reduce rotational inertia, providing significantly sharper throttle response and faster acceleration. Designed for street performance as well as competitive drag racing, autocross, and rally events, this flywheel is manufactured from solid one-piece billet chromoly steel or chromoly steel forgings for exceptional strength and thermal capacity.
Unlike many aluminum flywheels that utilize a pressed-on steel ring gear, Exedy integrates the ring gear teeth directly into the flywheel body. This one-piece construction eliminates the risk of ring gear separation caused by different expansion coefficients between aluminum and steel. The specialized design also optimizes airflow to improve clutch cooling under high-load conditions.
