The Fidanza Performance Aluminum Flywheel (MPN 172151) is designed to significantly reduce rotational mass, providing faster throttle response and quicker acceleration. By being 40-60% lighter than the factory cast iron unit, this flywheel lowers the engine's Moment of Inertia (MOI), allowing more horsepower to be delivered directly to the wheels rather than being spent spinning a heavy rotating assembly.
Constructed from high-tensile billet 6061 T6 or 2024 T4 aluminum, this flywheel is built for durability and precision. It features a unique bolt-on replaceable friction plate made from heat-treated 1050 steel, eliminating the need to resurface or replace the entire flywheel when the clutch surface wears. The hardened 1050 steel ring gear is also replaceable and is secured using high-strength military-spec fasteners for maximum reliability.
