The Innovate Motorsports HBX-1 Heat-Sink Bung Extender (MPN 3729) is a precision-engineered solution for high-exhaust-gas-temperature (EGT) applications that cause wideband O2 sensor failure or timing errors. Specifically designed for turbocharged, rotary, and other high-performance engines, this extender protects sensitive electronics from thermal damage while maintaining accurate air-fuel ratio readings.
Standard Bosch LSU 4.2 and 4.9 sensors are rated for a maximum EGT of 1,700°F (930°C) and a housing temperature of 1,058°F (570°C) at the hex. When these thermal limits are exceeded, Innovate controllers typically display an "08- Sensor Timing Error." The HBX-1 addresses this by relocating the sensor away from the direct high-heat path without sacrificing signal integrity.
- Thermal Protection: Pulls the sensor 1.1875" (30mm) out of the original weld boss to significantly reduce applied temperatures.
