The APR Open PEX Intake System is engineered to maximize airflow and minimize pressure drop for the MQB platform 1.8T and 2.0T engines. By replacing the restrictive factory airbox with a high-flow open design, this system reduces strain on the turbocharger and improves throttle response. The intake utilizes PEX, a high-heat deflection polymer that retains less heat than traditional metal components, ensuring cooler intake temperatures during spirited driving. The complex heat shield geometry is specifically designed to isolate the intake tract from radiant engine bay heat and hot air coming through the radiator.

At the core of the system is a massive 7-inch washable and reusable cotton filter featuring a frontal inlet and a 4-inch rear outlet. This oversized design provides significantly more surface area than stock, allowing the system to flow 833 CFM—a 60% increase over the factory 521 CFM—without compromising filtration efficiency.
