Crankshaft Dampers

The crankshaft damper, also known as a harmonic balancer, is critical for absorbing torsional vibration and preventing catastrophic crankshaft failure. Over time, the rubber bond between the hub and outer ring can degrade, leading to timing marks walking, belt slippage, or even a separated pulley. Whether you're maintaining a daily driver or building a high-revving race engine, a properly functioning damper is non-negotiable.

Our collection includes:

  • Stock replacement dampers for OE-like massage and reliable daily operation.
  • Performance dampers with elastomeric or fluid-filled designs that tune out harmful harmonics across the rpm range.
  • SFI-certified dampers for sanctioned racing, where safety regulations require a spec balancer.
  • Underdrive pulleys that reduce parasitic drag for a modest horsepower gain—without sacrificing harmonic damping in a quality design.

When selecting a damper, verify your engine's external balance configuration (internal vs. external balance), the pulley diameter, and any interference with aftermarket accessories. All dampers are designed to press or bolt onto the crankshaft snout using the correct installer tool (not a hammer) to avoid bearing damage.
