The Cusco Type RS Limited Slip Differential (LSD) provides a significant upgrade to the front drivetrain of the 2004-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Unlike conventional LSDs that use cone springs to apply initial torque, the Type RS utilizes coil springs located between the pressure rings. This design results in lower initial torque, reducing parasitic drag while offering faster engagement and increased durability under performance driving conditions.
This 1.5-way front differential is configured to provide full locking under acceleration while offering partial locking under deceleration, improving corner-entry stability without the excessive understeer often associated with more aggressive front setups. It is a direct-fit component designed to withstand the high-torque demands of the STI drivetrain.
