Red Line 75W85 GL-5 Gear Oil is a fully synthetic lubricant engineered for modern high-load drivetrain components. Formerly known as LightWeight Gear Oil, this formula provides the necessary protection and thermal stability required for late-model differentials, final drives, and transfer cases. It is a popular choice for vehicles from BMW, Dodge, Ford, GM, Jeep, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Ram, and Toyota.
This gear oil is pre-blended with friction modifiers to ensure smooth operation in clutch-type limited-slip differentials (LSD), typically eliminating the need for additional additives. While ideal for high-pressure gear sets and racing transaxles like the Hewland LD-200 and FTR sequential, it is not intended for use in most manual transmissions or transaxles with synchronizers, as the friction coefficients may cause shifting issues.
- Viscosity Compatibility: Satisfies requirements for SAE 75W80, 75W, 80W, 85W, as well as SAE 30 and 10W30 motor oil.
- API Service Class: GL-5
