Fits 2001-2005 Mazda Miata (1.8L). This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket provides a high-performance sealing solution for the Mazda BP DOHC engine. Built from three to five layers of stainless steel, this gasket offers superior strength, corrosion resistance, and the ability to rebound under heavy load conditions. The outer layers are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton rubber, a material capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F) and designed to conform to varied surface finishes.
The MLS design requires less clamp load than standard gaskets, which helps minimize bore distortion and ensures uniform load distribution across the entire sealing area. This gasket features a 0.040-inch thickness, achieved via an uncoated stainless steel center shim layer.
