Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets are engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output engines without the need for additional sealants. These gaskets are constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, offering exceptional rebound and corrosion resistance. The stainless steel composition effectively manages the shearing forces created by different expansion rates in aluminum-to-aluminum or aluminum-to-cast-iron engine configurations.
The outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a high-performance fluoroelastomer rubber capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions while requiring less clamp load to minimize bore distortion during installation.
