The Cometic MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) Head Gasket is engineered for high-output BMW engines, providing maximum sealing performance without the need for additional sealants. These gaskets are ideal for sealing aluminum heads to both cast iron and aluminum blocks, as the multi-layer stainless steel construction is designed to withstand the shearing forces created by different thermal expansion rates between the materials.
This head gasket features embossed outer layers coated on both sides with Viton—a fluoroelastomer rubber capable of resisting heat up to 250°C (482°F). This coating is specifically designed to meet the demands of harsh sealing environments and various surface finishes. The center shim layer is uncoated stainless steel, ensuring precise thickness and even load distribution. This design requires less clamp load than traditional gaskets, which helps reduce cylinder bore distortion.
