The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output BMW engines. This specific gasket features a 0.140-inch compressed thickness, making it an ideal choice for engine builders looking to adjust compression ratios or compensate for significant surface machining on the cylinder head or block. Unlike composite gaskets, the MLS design requires no additional sealants and provides superior rebound to maintain a combustion seal under high cylinder pressures.
Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket resists corrosion and handles the shearing forces created by different thermal expansion rates between aluminum heads and cast iron or aluminum blocks.
