The Cometic MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) Head Gasket provides a high-performance sealing solution for the Nissan L28 engine. Constructed from five embossed layers of stainless steel, this gasket is designed to handle the shearing forces and differing expansion rates inherent in aluminum head and cast iron block configurations. The stainless steel core provides excellent rebound characteristics and resists corrosion, while the embossed outer layers ensure a reliable seal under high load conditions.
The outer layers are finished with a Viton coating—a heat-resistant fluoroelastomer that withstands temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating allows the gasket to meet the demands of various surface finishes and harsh sealing environments without the need for additional sealants. The 5-layer design provides consistent load distribution across the sealing surface, helping to minimize bore distortion and maintain combustion chamber integrity.
