The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output SOHC D-Series engines. This gasket consists of multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, with the outer layers coated in Viton—a heat-resistant fluoroelastomer capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). The MLS design is ideal for managing the different expansion rates and shearing forces found in aluminum head to cast iron block combinations.
