The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide the superior sealing performance required by modern high-output engines. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket offers exceptional strength and the ability to rebound under combustion pressure. The outer layers are finished with a Viton rubber coating, a fluoroelastomer material that is heat resistant up to 250°C (482°F), ensuring a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions.
Designed for both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast iron engine configurations, this MLS gasket effectively withstands the shearing forces created by dissimilar metals. The stainless steel shim center layer provides structural stability and corrosion resistance without the need for additional sealants. By requiring less clamp load than traditional gaskets, it helps minimize bore distortion for improved engine longevity and performance.
