The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output engines without the need for additional sealants. Comprised of multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, this gasket is designed to withstand the high shearing forces found in performance applications, specifically when mating aluminum heads to aluminum or cast iron blocks.
- Outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a fluoroelastomer rubber-based material heat resistant up to 250°C (482°F).
- Center shim layer consists of uncoated stainless steel to maintain precise thickness requirements.
- Engineered to require less clamp load, which reduces bore distortion and improves load distribution across the sealing surface.
- Stainless steel construction resists corrosion and provides the necessary rebound to maintain a consistent seal under harsh conditions.
