The Cometic MLX (Multi-Layer Extreme) head gasket provides maximum sealing performance for high-output engines without the need for additional sealants. Engineered to withstand the high cylinder pressures of modern forced induction and high-compression builds, this gasket utilizes multiple embossed layers of stainless steel to maintain a reliable seal between the cylinder head and block.

The outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a specialized fluoroelastomer rubber that is heat resistant up to 250°C (482°F). This coating ensures a precise seal across various surface finishes and load conditions, while the stainless steel construction offers the necessary resilience to resist corrosion and rebound under thermal expansion. The design effectively manages the shearing forces created when mating different metallurgy, such as aluminum heads to cast iron or aluminum blocks.
