The Cobb Air Oil Separator (AOS) is a critical upgrade for turbocharged EJ-series engines, designed to manage crankcase pressure and prevent oil vapor from entering the intake tract. In a factory setup, oil-laden air is recirculated into the intake, which can coat the intercooler, throttle body, and intake valves, eventually leading to carbon buildup and a reduction in effective fuel octane.
This system intercepts blow-by from the crankcase and cylinder heads, separating the liquid oil and returning it directly to the oil pan. By ensuring only clean air reaches the combustion chamber, the Cobb AOS helps maintain consistent performance, prevents detonation (knock), and keeps your forced induction system running efficiently.
