The Gates 91031 Micro-V Stretch Fit Belt Installation Tool is a specialized service solution designed to safely install self-tensioning stretch-fit belts. Unlike standard accessory belts, stretch-fit belts do not utilize a traditional mechanical tensioner; attempting to pry them on with a screwdriver or pry bar risks damaging the pulley or snapping the internal tensile cords of the belt.
This tool is engineered to properly seat the belt by "walking" it onto the pulley as the crankshaft is rotated, ensuring even tension and preventing premature belt failure. It is a necessary addition to any technician's or DIYer's toolbox when performing drive belt service on specific Mazda and Subaru engines.
