Cometic C4548-040 Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets are engineered for the high-pressure demands of the 2.4L turbo engine. These gaskets consist of multiple layers of embossed stainless steel to provide maximum sealing performance and structural integrity. The outer layers are coated on both sides with a Viton fluoroelastomer, designed to withstand temperatures up to 250°C (482°F) and adapt to various surface finishes and load conditions.
The MLS design requires less clamping load than traditional gaskets, which reduces cylinder bore distortion and ensures even load distribution across the sealing surface. These gaskets are ideal for both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast-iron engine configurations, as the stainless steel layers effectively handle the different expansion rates and shearing forces of the two materials.
