The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket provides maximum sealing performance for high-output engines without the need for additional sealants. Constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, this gasket features outer layers coated with Viton, a fluoroelastomer rubber based material capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This advanced design allows the gasket to handle the shearing forces created by mismatched block and head materials while resisting corrosion and maintaining its rebound.
By using a specific uncoated stainless steel shim layer, Cometic ensures precise thickness tolerances and uniform load distribution across the sealing area. This design requires less clamp load than traditional gaskets, which helps reduce bore distortion and maintains engine longevity under harsh conditions.
