This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered specifically for B-Series "LS/VTEC" or "CRV-VTEC" hybrid engine builds. Designed to provide a reliable seal for high-output applications, it features an 85mm bore and a compressed thickness of 0.040 inches. By utilizing multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket creates superior rebound and corrosion resistance compared to composite alternatives.
The outer layers are coated with Viton, a fluor elastomer rubber-based material capable of resisting temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures a primary seal across various surface finishes and load conditions, while the uncoated stainless steel center shim allows for precise thickness tolerances. This construction requires less clamp load than traditional gaskets, resulting in reduced bore distortion and more even load distribution across the sealing surface.
