The Cometic MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) head gasket is engineered to provide the high-performance sealing required for modern high-output engines. By utilizing multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket creates a robust seal that handles the shearing forces between aluminum heads and blocks. The outer layers are coated with a 250°C (482°F) heat-resistant Viton rubber to ensure reliable sealing across various surface finishes and load conditions.
This design requires less clamp load than standard gaskets, resulting in reduced bore distortion and more even load distribution across the sealing surface. The uncoated stainless steel shim layer allows for precise thickness control to meet specific engine build requirements.
