The Cometic MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) Head Gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output FS-DE engines. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket provides the strength and resilience needed to withstand the shearing forces common in both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast iron engine configurations. The multi-layer design allows the gasket to rebound under pressure while resisting corrosion over time.
To ensure a reliable seal in harsh environments, the outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a heat-resistant fluoroelastomer capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating conforms to various surface finishes and load conditions. The C5844-030 requires less clamp load than traditional gaskets, which reduces bore distortion and promotes even load distribution across the sealing area.
