The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide the superior sealing required for modern high-output engines. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket features outer layers coated with a 0.25-micron thick layer of Viton rubber. This fluoroelastomer coating is heat-resistant up to 250°C (482°F), allowing it to maintain a reliable seal across various load conditions and surface finishes without the need for additional sealants.

By design, the MLS construction is ideal for both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast iron engine configurations. It effectively resists the shearing forces created by different thermal expansion rates between the cylinder head and engine block. The uncoated stainless steel center shim layer provides structural integrity and allows for precise thickness specifications to meet your build requirements.
