The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) Head Gasket provides superior sealing performance for high-output 1.6L engines without the need for additional sealants. Engineered to withstand the extreme shearing forces created between aluminum heads and cast iron blocks, this gasket is constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel for maximum strength and rebound.
Each outer layer is coated on both sides with Viton, a high-performance fluoroelastomer rubber capable of resisting temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This advanced coating ensures a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions, while the uncoated stainless steel shim layer allows for precise thickness requirements. The MLS design requires less clamp load, which helps minimize bore distortion and promotes even load distribution across the entire sealing area.
