The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output 4G63 engines. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket is designed to withstand the high shearing forces found in aluminum-to-cast iron or aluminum-to-aluminum engine assemblies. The outer layers are coated with Viton, a fluoroelastomer capable of resisting temperatures up to 250°C (482°F), designed to meet the demands of harsh sealing environments and varied surface finishes.

This design requires less clamp load than standard gaskets, reducing bore distortion and ensuring even load distribution across the sealing surface. Cometic MLS gaskets install dry, requiring no additional sealants or re-torquing after installation. The center shim layer is uncoated stainless steel, which can be varied during manufacturing to meet specific thickness requirements.
