The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered for the high cylinder pressures of modified 4G63 engines. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket provides superior rebound and corrosion resistance compared to composite alternatives. The outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a heat-resistant fluor elastomer rated to 250°C (482°F), ensuring a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions.
This design is ideal for sealing aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, as the stainless steel layers withstand the shearing forces created by different thermal expansion rates. With a compressed operating thickness of 0.060", it requires less clamp load than traditional gaskets, which helps reduce bore distortion and maintains more consistent load distribution across the sealing surface.
