This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output Nissan L-series engines. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket is designed to withstand the shearing forces common in engines utilizing an aluminum cylinder head paired with a cast iron block. The stainless steel construction provides superior rebound characteristics and corrosion resistance compared to composite gaskets.
The outer layers are coated with Viton, a high-temperature fluoroelastomer capable of resisting heat up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures a reliable seal across various load conditions and surface finishes without the need for additional sealants. By requiring less clamp load, this gasket helps reduce bore distortion during installation.
