The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) Head Gasket (C4261-045) is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output Subaru engines. Designed with a 93mm bore and a compressed thickness of 0.045 inches, this gasket is built to withstand the extreme cylinder pressures and heat generated in performance DOHC 16V turbo applications. MLS technology requires no additional sealants and provides the necessary rebound to maintain a seal during engine thermal cycles.
Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket features outer layers coated on both sides in Viton—a high-performance fluoroelastomer heat-resistant up to 250°C (482°F). This material handles the shearing forces between aluminum heads and blocks while requiring less clamp load, which helps reduce bore distortion and ensures even load distribution across the sealing area. The uncoated stainless steel shim layer provides consistent thickness and structural durability under harsh conditions.
