Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets provide superior sealing performance for high-output 1FZ-FE engines without the need for additional sealants. This 5-layer gasket is constructed from high-grade stainless steel layers, providing the necessary rebound and corrosion resistance to maintain a reliable seal under harsh conditions. The design is specifically engineered to handle the shearing forces found in both aluminum-to-iron and aluminum-to-aluminum head-and-block configurations.
The outer layers are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton, a fluoroelastomer rubber material that is heat resistant to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures the gasket conforms to surface finishes and maintains a tight seal across varying load conditions. By distributing the clamp load evenly across the sealing area, this gasket helps reduce bore distortion compared to standard gaskets.
