The HKS Speed Limit Defencer (SLD) Type 1 is a specialized electronic integration module designed to bypass factory-imposed speed governors. This is a critical component for JDM vehicles or track-oriented builds where the ECU is programmed to initiate a fuel or ignition cut at a specific top speed (typically 180 km/h on Japanese market vehicles).
By intercepting and modifying the speed sensor signal before it reaches the ECU, the SLD Type 1 prevents the vehicle from entering speed-limiting safety modes while allowing the factory speedometer to remain fully operational.
