Big Brake Kits

Big brake kits replace your factory brakes with larger-diameter rotors, multi-piston calipers, and performance pads to dramatically improve stopping power, fade resistance, and pedal feel. Whether you're tracking your car, towing heavy loads, or just want commanding braking on the street, a properly sized upgrade transforms how your vehicle handles heat and deceleration.

Most kits are designed as direct bolt-on upgrades, using vehicle-specific brackets and hardware to mount to stock spindles. Rotor diameters often increase 1–2 inches or more, while caliper piston counts jump from one or two to four, six, or even eight pistons for more even pad pressure. Combined with braided stainless-steel lines and high-temperature fluid, a big brake kit can cut stopping distances and reduce brake fade lap after lap.

Key considerations when choosing a kit:

  • Rotor diameter & thickness: Larger rotors provide more leverage and heat mass. Make sure they clear your wheels – most kits list minimum wheel diameter.
  • Caliper piston count & design: More pistons generally mean better modulation and pad wear, but caliper rigidity and piston material also matter. Look for forged or monoblock calipers for the ultimate in stiffness.
  • Pad compound: Match pads to your use. Street pads offer quiet, low-dust performance; track pads bite harder when hot but may squeal cold.
  • Included hardware: Kits should include brackets, lines, and all necessary bolts. Some reuse OEM parking brake functionality; verify if you need a separate drum or caliper for the e-brake.
  • Vehicle compatibility: Confirm the kit is engineered for your exact make, model, and year. Differences in suspension, ABS calibration, and spindle design mean a kit that fits one generation may not fit another.
