Maintaining and utilizing the factory valve behavior, SwitchPath™ tech obeys orders given via the MMI and Drive Select to determine its mood just as the stock exhaust would. When the valves are closed, the SwitchPath™ Exhaust produces a sophisticated soundtrack. At cruising speeds, interior acoustics are close to stock with no drone thanks to the 180 Technology® resonator. SwitchPath™ tech also responds perfectly to Drive Select, so if you drop the hammer while cruising, expect it to behave just like factory. Open the valves and the 4.0TT’s roar is uncorked. Dynamic mode achieves the ultimate contrast in behavior when compared to comfort driving modes. The exhaust note is powerful, clean, and aggressive. Now, let's chat about tips: given the RS’ interior sound deadening, it made hearing the enhanced exhaust sound a challenge. They’re 31% larger than the stock tips, fill the valance perfectly, and come standard in AWE’s signature diamond black finish. For those who like their volume like their speed (and want to feel the raw nature of the GRC’s potent 3-cylinder at all speeds) the Track Edition features a non-resonated mid-section (i.e. no 180 Technology®). It’s even louder (in & out) than the Touring Edition, while shaving weight and cost. This version is known to get rowdy in mid-range acceleration/deceleration and cruising, and may be too much for some. For this reason, the Track Edition cannot be returned for sound reasons--you've been warned! The Track Edition boasts a 3” T304L stainless steel downpipe-back configuration that brings out an incredibly rowdy and powerful soundtrack that is nothing short of attention-grabbing. AWE designed three, perfectly fitting (and larger) tips for the GRC: one bespoke 4.5" x 8" oval (double-walled, slash-cut tip and stamped with the AWE logo) in the center, and two 5” double-walled, slash-cut tips left and right. No forced block-off plates or quad setups here - just pure GR look, as intended. When it comes to valves, the rumors are true - they don't matter once you remove the backpressure issues of the stock configuration (and you can't open the valve yourself anyway). So we decided to delete them, save weight, drop price, and make the best sounding exhaust available for the GRC. The Track Edition Exhaust takes the engineered design of the Touring Edition Exhaust and replaces the AWE 180 Technology® resonators with straight pipe sections, delivering an even bigger dose of 4.0T attitude. This system is known to get rowdy in the mid-range, and may be a bit much for many. For that reason, this system can’t be returned due to sound (this system’s about commitment). However, the Track Edition Exhaust *can* be converted at a later date to a Touring Edition Exhaust (or vice versa). All systems are finished off with AWE's quad slash-cut 102mm tips, including the AWE logo, and double walling to ensure a mirror finish even under hard usage. All tips are individually adjustable, allowing depth into the bumper to be set according to personal taste. AWE Electronic Valve Simulators are sold separately - but here's why you might want them: When valves are removed, the ECU stores what is known as a ‘soft code’. While this code is not harmful, who wants it? Enter the AWE Electronic Valve Simulators. These simple devices plug right into the factory harness in place of the exhaust valves, and prevent any code from ever being stored in the ECU due to the removal of the exhaust valves. Plug them in. Start it up. Drive away. That simple. Comes as a set of two. This exhaust is for those who like to take it up a notch… and leave it there.
