The 2011-2016 Ford 3.5L has an inherent design flaw where not all of the OE stud locations are utilized by the OE manufacturer which leads to warped exhaust manifolds, broken exhaust studs and blown manifold gaskets. The cylinder head on Fords 3.5L Gas Ecoboost has threaded holes for 11 exhaust studs to be used, however the OE manifold only utilizes 8 of those stud locations. BD has designed a manifold that not only utilizes all 11 stud locations, but also improves exhaust flow and has improved durability, the way it should have come from the factory. The Killer Grid Heater Upgrade Kit is purpose-built to address a major flaw in the 6.7L Cummins engine that can result in total engine destruction. The problem lies in the electrical connection to the intake grid heater. When powering the grid heater, 200 amps pass through a small bolt and nut inside the intake and over time is known to deteriorate and eventually arc and break off. This nut drops into the engine, leading to extensive damage to the piston, head, and valves. There are several solutions currently on the market addressing this issue, but they are very costly upgrades, they drastically reduce the amount of heat available to the engine and typically require tuning or don'(TM)t work well in cold climates. BD's FleX-Plate is CNC machined 1.5x thicker out of quench and tempered 100ksi steel. In-house machining incorporates integrated counterweights which are then balanced to better than OE specifications. Black Oxide coated to resist corrosion and prevents hydrogen embrittlement that can cause cracking, these units will fit any OEM or aftermarket torque converter and affordable enough to replace with converter or transmission swap. The BD FleX-Plate is a direct, bolt-in replacement for the stock unit. Great for racing, towing or stock!
