The stock intercooler utilizes a tube-and-fin construction coupled with plastic end tanks, giving high temperatures a perfect breeding ground. Our intercooler is designed with the Honda enthusiast in mind and eliminates high charged air temperatures that set up shop in the stock intercooler. The all-aluminum, bar-and-plate construction is specifically designed to shrug off heat generated from compressing air into the intake manifold. Our intercooler also has increased the volume by 102-percent and fin surface area by 97-percent, which helps drop outlet air temperatures by 20 F over the stock intercooler, and up to 42 F once a performance tune is added. The benefits of our upgraded design don't stop with the intercooler. Our direct-fit intercooler kit also gives the stock intercooler piping an overhaul. We ditched the plastic and rubber combination that made up the original equipment and replaced them with mandrel-bent aluminum and 5-layer, fiber-embedded silicone couplers. Our piping also increases the size of both the hot and cold-sides of the piping system from 42mm to 55mm, equating in a 30-percent increase in size. We also took the liberty of reducing the angles of the bends in the piping, giving the charged air a more direct flow through the intercooling system and improving the flow. Our performance intercooler kit adds up to 4 hp and 8 ft-lbs of torque on the stock tuning, with the potential to boost that power gain to 11 hp and 9 ft-lbs of torque with a tune.

Here at Mishimoto, we never back down from a challenge, so we developed a high-mount intercooler to let your 2.3L or 2.7L EcoBoost breathe the coolest, densest air possible to help improve performance and overall efficiency. We relocated this high-mount intercooler to the upper grille to allow greater clearance, improved entry and exit angle, and protect your intercooler from obstacles on the trail. This relocation also frees up your front bumper for winches and other essential off-road accessories. We've also included new ducting to ensure ample airflow through the intercooler in its new location. The Mishimoto High-mount Intercooler features a 3.1 inch-thick core with precision TIG-welded cast aluminum end tanks. Compared to the factory tube-and-fin intercooler, durability against heat, pressure, and debris on the road or trail is significantly improved.----More durability is always a good thing, but it's even better when it's backed by performance. This high-mount intercooler boasts an increase of 49-percent core volume and 93-percent external fin surface area, which results in a reduction of outlet temperatures by 21-degrees (2.3L EcoBoost) / 15.5-degrees (2.7L EcoBoost) over stock. Combined, this generates gains of 4.5 hp and 10.8 lb-ft of torque for the 2.3L EcoBoost and 8.0 hp and 10.2 lb-ft torque for the 2.7L EcoBoost. We saw exceptional improvement in our trail simulation heat-soak testing where, after 6 back-to-back dyno runs, we still saw outlet temperatures 20-degrees cooler than stock.
