Hitch Ball Mounts

The hitch ball mount—often called a drawbar or ball mount—is the component that connects your trailer ball to your vehicle's receiver hitch. Getting the right one is crucial for safe, level towing. Our collection covers a range of sizes, drop and rise heights, and weight ratings to accommodate everything from small utility trailers to heavy-duty cargo and equipment haulers.

Choosing the correct ball mount comes down to a few key measurements and ratings:

  • Receiver tube size: Must match your hitch receiver opening (common sizes are 1-1/4", 2", and 2-1/2"). Confirm your hitch class before ordering.
  • Drop or rise: The vertical distance from the hitch opening to the ball platform. A drop mount positions the ball lower than the receiver; a rise mount positions it higher. Choose the dimension that levels your trailer when fully loaded.
  • Weight capacity: Every ball mount carries a gross trailer weight (GTW) and tongue weight (TW) rating. Always stay within your vehicle's tow rating and the mount's specs. Exceeding these limits creates a safety hazard.
  • Ball hole diameter: Typically 3/4" or 1"; must match the shank diameter of your trailer ball.
  • Construction: Look for solid steel or fabricated steel units with a durable finish (powder coat or chrome plating) to resist corrosion. Most include a hitch pin and clip, but verify before purchase.

Use the filters or refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual and the trailer manufacturer’s recommendations to narrow down the options. If you’re unsure about drop/rise, a general rule is to measure from the ground to the bottom of the receiver opening, then subtract the coupler height of your loaded trailer. The difference is the approximate ball mount drop you’ll need. Our team is here to help if you have questions.
