Oil Filter Blocks

Oil filter blocks—often called sandwich plates or adapter plates—provide a simple way to add an external oil cooler, remote filter mount, or gauge senders without permanently modifying your engine. They sandwich between the block and the oil filter, using the factory filter stud and sealing surface while exposing threaded ports to route oil out and back.

When you’re choosing an oil filter block, focus on these details to ensure a leak-free fit:

Center thread size—must match your engine’s filter stud. Common sizes: 3/4"-16, 13/16"-16, M20 x 1.5, M22 x 1.5.
O-ring diameter—needs to seal against the engine flange. Many blocks include O-rings for popular applications, but always measure if you’re unsure.
Port size and thread—1/8" NPT for oil pressure/temperature senders, larger 1/2" NPT or -10AN for cooler lines. Some blocks offer multiple ports.
Material and thickness—billet aluminum dissipates heat well and resists vibration; check overall height to ensure the filter clears the frame or exhaust.
Thermostatic control—some blocks include a built-in thermostat that only opens to the cooler once the oil reaches operating temperature, speeding warm-up and protecting against overcooling.
