Valve Guides

Valve guides are precision cylinders pressed into the cylinder head that keep the valve stem aligned during every opening and closing event. Over time, they wear — especially in high-mileage or performance engines — leading to excessive oil consumption, valve seat misalignment, and loss of compression. Replacing worn guides restores proper valve operation and engine efficiency.

When selecting valve guides, pay close attention to:

  • Material: Cast iron guides are durable and compatible with stock valves; bronze or manganese-bronze guides offer better heat dissipation and are preferred for performance applications.
  • Size: Guide outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) must match your cylinder head’s bore and valve stem diameter. Common stem diameters include 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm, and 11/32 in.
  • Application: Guides are engine-specific. Confirm fitment by engine family, valve size, and year range before ordering.

Our valve guide collection covers a broad range of domestic and import engines. Use the vehicle filters to narrow results by make, model, and engine, or search by your desired guide dimensions.
