Engineered for the extreme cylinder pressures of high-output diesel engines, the Cometic MLX (Multi-Layer Steel-Stopper) head gasket provides a superior seal without the need for additional sealants or copper spray. This gasket is constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, providing the structural integrity needed to withstand the shearing forces created by the thermal expansion of aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. The stainless steel construction also provides the spring-like properties required to rebound and maintain a consistent seal under varying load conditions.

The outer layers are coated with a .001" thick layer of Viton, a fluoroelastomer rubber that is heat resistant up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures a reliable micro-seal across various surface finishes, while the integrated stopper layer provides increased clamp load around the combustion chamber to prevent gasket failure and bore distortion.
