The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket provides maximum sealing performance for high-output engines without the need for additional sealants. Engineered to withstand the extreme cylinder pressures and shearing forces common in high-performance applications, these gaskets are ideal for both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast-iron engine configurations. The multiple layers of stainless steel provide the necessary rebound to maintain a seal while resisting corrosion over the long term.
This GEN1 head gasket features embossed outer layers coated on both sides with Viton, a fluoroelastomer rubber capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). The uncoated stainless steel center shim allows for precise thickness control and promotes even load distribution across the sealing surface, which helps reduce bore distortion and maintains consistent clamp load.
