The Cometic MLX (Multi-Layer Steel-Stopper) head gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output BMW B58 engines. Constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, this gasket creates a robust seal that requires no additional sealants. The outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a high-performance fluoroelastomer rubber capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F), making it ideal for the demanding thermal environments found in turbocharged applications.

Designed to handle the shearing forces between aluminum heads and blocks or cast iron blocks, the MLX series increases clamp load around the cylinder without increasing bore distortion. The stainless steel composition provides excellent rebound characteristics and inherent corrosion resistance, ensuring a reliable seal over the life of the engine.
