The Cometic C4308-036 Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) Head Gasket is designed for 2002-2008 Mini Cooper engines (Base, S, and Clubman), providing high-performance sealing for today’s high-output applications. Engineered to handle the shearing forces between aluminum cylinder heads and blocks, this gasket requires no additional sealants to achieve a reliable, airtight seal.
- Bore Diameter: 78.5mm
- Compressed Thickness: 0.036"
- Construction: Multi-layer embossed stainless steel
- Coating: Viton (heat resistant up to 250°C / 482°F)

The MLS design uses multiple layers of stainless steel to provide superior strength, corrosion resistance, and the ability to rebound under load conditions. The embossed outer layers are coated on both sides with a Viton fluoroelastomer to meet the demands of various surface finishes and load conditions. By requiring less clamp load than traditional gaskets, it helps reduce bore distortion to maintain engine geometry and performance.
