Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets provide maximum sealing performance for modern high-output engines without the need for additional sealants. Engineered to withstand the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on either aluminum or cast iron blocks, these gaskets utilize multiple layers of stainless steel to provide a resilient seal that resists corrosion and maintains tension through thermal cycles.
The outer layers are embossed and coated with Viton, a high-temperature fluorelastomer rubber-based material rated to 250°C (482°F). This design requires less clamp load than traditional gaskets, resulting in reduced bore distortion and more consistent load distribution across the entire sealing surface. The center shim layer is constructed of uncoated stainless steel, ensuring structural integrity under harsh load conditions.
