Engineered for high-performance sealing, the Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is designed to handle the extreme cylinder pressures of high-output engines. This gasket features a 88mm bore and a .051-inch compressed thickness, utilizing three layers of embossed stainless steel to provide superior rebound and corrosion resistance compared to composite alternatives. The outer layers are finished with a Viton rubber coating, a fluoroelastomer material that is heat resistant up to 250°C (482°F), ensuring a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions.
The MLS design is particularly effective for Honda H-series engines, as it accommodates the different expansion rates between aluminum heads and blocks. By requiring less clamp load, this gasket helps minimize bore distortion for better ring seal and longevity.
