The Cometic MLX-4 (Multi-Layer Stopper) Head Gasket is engineered for high-output engines that demand superior sealing performance without the use of additional sealants. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket provides increased strength and a unique ability to rebound, resisting corrosion even in harsh operating environments. The MLX design is specifically intended to improve clamp load around the cylinder bore while minimizing bore distortion.

The outer layers are coated on both sides with a Viton rubber-based fluoroelastomer, designed to withstand temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions, making it ideal for both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast iron engine configurations. The center shim layer is made of uncoated stainless steel, which can be varied to meet specific thickness requirements.
