The Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output engines without the need for additional sealants. This gasket is specifically designed for the Mitsubishi 6G72 series, accommodating both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast iron mating surfaces. Its multi-layer stainless steel construction allows the gasket to rebound under pressure and resist the shearing forces created by different thermal expansion rates in the head and block.

The outer layers are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton, a fluoroelastomer rubber material that is heat resistant to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions. The center shim layer is uncoated stainless steel, precision-engineered to achieve a compressed operating thickness of .051 inches.
